In Sacramento for the California International Marathon. For the past week I’ve worried, tossed and turned over the weather, am I fit enough, will I hit “the Wall”, etc, etc. I’ve been a worry machine.

Walking back to the hotel from Safeway, I just stumbled across the State of California memorial to those killed in the Vietnam War.

For as long as I can remember war memorials act as a magnetic and significantly move me. Visiting The American WWII cemetery in Holland and in Luxembourg (Patton and his troops), Omaha Beach, to Gettysburg and Kings Mt (NC) etched a deep impression in me.

Those 5,575 Californians, who unselfishly made the ultimate sacrifice puts my petty concerns and selfish endeavor in proper perspective.

Thank you.
